Why is pressure washing important?

Some may think of pressure washing as purely a beautification service. While it does improve the curb appeal of a property it can also help preserve it while making it safer! Over time rain, humidity, pollen, dirt, and other debris can wreak havoc on your home or businesses' surfaces leading to potentially dangerous and deteriorating conditions.

According to the National Floor Safety Institute: Falls account for over 8 million hospital emergency room visits, representing the leading cause of visits (21.3%). Slips and falls account for over 1 million visits, or 12% of total falls. The unsightly black streaks that appear on your sidewalk/driveway will slowly spread until the algae causing them covers the entire surface creating a slippery situation (especially when it rains). We remedy this issue by cleaning the area with our surface cleaner and using a commercial grade post treatment to be sure that the algae beneath the porous surface level is neutralized as well.

Most people don't find themselves on their roofs regularly and therefore wouldn't find it dangerous to have algae streaks on their roof (It gets slippery up there as well). The biggest concern is actually the fact that the organic growth be it algae, lichen, or moss can shorten the lifespan of your roof by holding moisture against the surface causing pitting as they feed on the limestone in the shingle. We use manufacturer recommended processes from the largest companies in the roofing world such as GAF to clean roofs safely and effectively to ensure you get the most life out of your roofing system. This process involves a more concentrated solution than what we would use on concrete or a house wash and is applied by a process called soft washing. This is a very low pressure process letting the chemical do the heavy lifting to prevent any granule loss. You never want to use high pressure on a roof!

If you live in the Piedmont area of NC then chances are you have these issues on your property. Our humid climate is the perfect storm for algae to grow and prosper. Whether for concern is purely cosmetic or preventative maintenance Ladder & Bucket has you covered!
